Ayurvedic Yoga Massage with Claire

Ayurvedic Yoga Massage (AYM) is a deeply therapeutic treatment that blends traditional Ayurvedic oil massage with yoga-based stretching and breathwork. It was developed by Master Kusum Modak in Pune, India, who combined her studies in Ayurvedic massage and Iyengar-inspired yoga to create a system that restores balance to body and mind.

Each treatment weaves together deep tissue massage, assisted yoga stretches, and rhythmic breath to release tension. The massage uses a blend of natural sesame oil and Calamus root powder to gently heat and soften the muscles, allowing the body to open safely and deeply. Over time, this helps to improve posture, mobility, and overall energy flow.

What to expect

Your first session begins with a short consultation to understand what’s happening for you - physically, emotionally, and in daily life - and what you’d like to receive from the treatment. Ayurvedic Yoga Massage is suitable for everyone, and each session is adapted to your body, energy, and needs on the day.

You’ll be guided into steady, circular breathing to help the body relax before the massage begins. Using both hands and feet, I work with listening touch to ease tension and integrate passive stretches and joint mobilisations, helping you move with greater freedom and awareness.

As it’s an oil-based treatment, you’ll undress to your comfort level and be draped with sheets throughout — only the area being worked on is uncovered, so you’ll feel warm, safe, and held at all times.

Ayurvedic Yoga Massage invites you to drop out of the mind and back into the body. Many people describe feeling lighter, calmer, and more grounded afterwards — as though space has opened up, both within and around them. It’s a treatment that meets you exactly where you are, and gently reminds you of your natural state of balance.

I offer treatments at my home studio in Ironbridge, but can also, by arrangement, come to your home - if this is something you require, please get in touch to discuss.
